Vitality Privacy Policy

Vitality has no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of ours. Your meals, pantry, workouts and profile are stored on your iPhone. One feature does leave the device, you choose whether to use it, and it is described in full below.
What stays on your device
Everything you log — meals and their nutrition, pantry items and expiry dates, workouts, water, and the height, weight, age and activity level used to compute your targets — is written to a database inside the app’s own storage. It is covered by your device passcode and included in your device backups if you have those on. We cannot read any of it.
The AI features, and what they send
Meal photo analysis, pantry scanning and recipe suggestions call Anthropic’s API. When you tap to scan, the photo — and for recipes, the list of pantry item names — is sent to Anthropic so it can be analyzed. It does not pass through us on the way.
The app ships with no API key. You supply your own in Settings › AI Features. It is stored in your device’s Keychain, marked so it is not restored onto a different device from a backup, and sent only to Anthropic. We never see it, we do not resell or meter your usage, and you are billed by Anthropic directly for exactly what you use.
Remove the key at any time from the same screen. Every other feature — logging, the pantry, fitness, analytics — works with no key and makes no network requests at all.
The purchase
Vitality Pro is a one-time purchase sold through the App Store, using Apple’s own StoreKit. There is no purchase SDK and no third party in the middle: the app asks the App Store whether you own Pro, and the App Store answers. Payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see a card, and nothing about the transaction reaches us.
Apple Health
With your permission Vitality reads steps and activity from Apple Health to show them alongside your logged workouts. It is read-only: Vitality writes nothing to Health. Declining leaves the rest of the app fully working, and the permission is requested only when you first open the fitness features.
Camera
The camera is used only when you tap to photograph a meal, a pantry shelf, or a barcode. Photos are stored with the entry on your device and are only transmitted if you use the AI analysis described above.
Health information
Vitality holds information about your body and what you eat, which is sensitive. It is exactly because of that that there is no account, no analytics, and no server: there is no copy of it anywhere but your phone, so there is nothing for us to lose, sell, or be compelled to hand over.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app deletes everything with it, including the stored API key. Individual entries can be deleted in the app. Because we hold nothing, there is no request to make of us and no account to close.
