Estimates real-time energy consumption and carbon footprint of every app on your Mac

Carbon makes energy usage visible. It reads per-process CPU time via proc_pidinfo, maps it to estimated watts using your chip's TDP (auto-detected for M1/M2/M3/M4 variants), adds GPU and display power estimates, and converts to carbon emissions using regional intensity data. See per-app breakdowns sorted by consumption, daily/weekly charts via Swift Charts, and actionable suggestions like 'Chrome is using 8W with 23 tabs — closing inactive ones could save 4W.' Historical data stored in SQLite with total kWh and CO2 equivalents.

What it does

Per-app energy estimation in real-time watts
Auto-detects chip model (M1–M4) for accurate TDP
GPU and display power estimation via IOKit
Regional carbon intensity (gCO2/kWh) by country
Daily/weekly energy charts via Swift Charts
Smart suggestions for reducing energy waste
Background app energy alerts (>5W while hidden)

Who this is for

Environmentally conscious Mac users who want to understand and reduce their energy footprint.
