About GitPulse

GitPulse lives in your menu bar and monitors every Git repository across your watched folders. It auto-discovers repos up to 3 levels deep, color-codes them by urgency (green/yellow/red), and shows branch, modified/untracked counts, ahead/behind status, and stashes at a glance. Run quick git actions — pull, push, stash, pop, or commit — right from the dropdown. Pin repos, sort by urgency or activity, and generate one-click Markdown standup summaries for Slack or Discord.

Behind the build

The hardest part was making git status calls non-blocking.

Each repo runs in its own Swift Actor with TaskGroup for parallel scanning. The urgency color system (green/yellow/red) uses a scoring algorithm that weighs uncommitted changes, ahead/behind count, and stash depth.
