EchoType
- macOS
Records everything you type across all apps with AES-256 encryption, full-text search, and Touch ID unlock
EchoType is Time Machine for your keystrokes. It uses CGEventTap to silently capture every keystroke system-wide, recording the character, timestamp, active app, and window title. Everything is encrypted with AES-256-GCM via CryptoKit before touching disk, with a master password derived through PBKDF2 and Touch ID unlock after initial setup. Search across all your typing history with a global hotkey (Cmd+Shift+E), filter by app or date, and browse grouped typing sessions. Auto-pauses on password fields, supports app exclusions, and auto-deletes after configurable retention (default 90 days).
