About MenuBarStats

MenuBarStats is built to keep disk, CPU, and memory usage in the menu bar at a glance. The formulas are deliberately aligned with what Activity Monitor and Finder report, so the numbers agree with the rest of the system instead of inventing their own definition of 'used'. It is a single Swift file with no Xcode project and no dependencies, plus a headless --test mode that validates the stat readings without launching any UI.

Behind the build

The percentages used to freeze after a while.

Two causes, both classics: the update timer was scheduled in the default run-loop mode, so it stalled during menu tracking, and App Nap was throttling the process once it looked idle. The same pass fixed three more bugs in the sampler — an Int32 overflow on accumulated CPU ticks, a Mach send right leaked on every sample, and a memory figure that disagreed with Activity Monitor and a disk figure that disagreed with Finder.
